Embarkation/Debarkation/Transfers
Embarkation is when you get on the ship. Debarkation is when you leave the ship. In both cases you may be able to use Disney Cruise Line transportation to get to and from the cruise port.
What you need to know
-
Embarkation - During your online check-in, you will book your Port Arrival Time (PAT). Once you arrive at the port you will drop your luggage with the porters. Be sure to have your Disney Cruise Line luggage tags secured. You can then expect security screenings of your carry-on bags and boarding documents. Your carry-on bag should include your boarding documents/passport, medications, and any items you may need for the remainder of the day. After screening and check-in is complete you will wait for your boarding number to be called. Once on board most people have one thing on their to-do list, eat! There are a few options on embarkation day. The buffet is open and typically busy. The pool deck has quick service options and there is usually one main dining restaurant available for sit down service. We like to take our time and do the sit down service to start each sailing. Rooms are usually not available until 1 or 2 pm. There are activities and plenty of places to explore on your first few hours on the ship. DCL currently has a traditional muster drill which is mandatory to attend. The ship can not sail until everyone completes this drill so be sure to make your way to your meeting location at the designated time.

Debarkation - Everyone’s least favorite day has to be debarkation day. This is typically an early wake up alarm, an early breakfast, and off the ship. There are a few options for disembarking depending on transportation needs and these will vary by port. It is important to check the DCL information when booking flights to return home so you have enough time to get off of the ship and to the airport.

-
Disney Cruise Line Transfer - Disney Cruise Line offers ground transportation transfers to and from select airports to ports or select hotels to ports. DCL transportation provides a comfortable, stress free option to get to the ship. In some situations, your luggage may be taken from your hotel room or airport and arrive at your ship stateroom. If you are taking DCL transportation, you will be advised on your pick up time and your PAT. You may still have to wait in the terminal for your boarding group, but you won’t have to wait outside for a PAT later than what your DCL transportation arrives at.
